The Story of SquidFlip
Hi my name is Owen, and this is my story. Four years ago, when I was 10, I started my own business - Squid Flip. For four years, things were amazing. I made new chalked paints, flipped furniture, and designed all kinds of new stuff.
And then came COVID-19, and like so many small businesses it had an impact on me too. I soon understood that I could not run my store, do fairs and shows — and that the stores that sell my goods would see drops in traffic too.
Keeping my family safe was my priority. Plus, the concerns I had about going back to school, my older brother going off to college, and things just changing.
So, I took some time off. Spent time safely with my family — and thought about what to do next.
I rethought what I could sell, and do to connect with kids. I also thought about how to grow my business and how to still connect with all the nice people who have reached out to support me.
My friend, Michael Conway worked with me on photography and web-design- and with his help, we build a brand new Squid Flip website. I hope to use it to blog and share what I am working on. I think a new site will be the right kind of virtual Squid Flip store, and allow me to share tips, projects and ideas.
I was inspired this summer by doing virtual booths at Brimfield, and connecting with folks all over.
So, I will focus on products that will help: New paints, more of my handy license plate boxes, and new kits to help pass the time at home, unleashing your creative side.
And, I want to share some cool projects I am working on too.
So, stay tuned!
